A sneak peak at Ken’s new muscial venture… Ken Whiteley and The Beulah Band (banjoist Frank Evans, fiddler Rosalyn Dennett and bassist/co-producer Ben Whiteley) are creating and recording exciting new music that is deeply rooted in traditional North American folk forms. You’ll hear echoes of blues, gospel, swing, string and jug band sounds. They can’t wait to take their show on the road and they’re very excited to have joined the roster at AIM Artists in Motion Booking Agency. Worldwide CD release February 3, 2015 on Borealis Record.

Nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award, “The Light of Christmas” CD features a marvelous collection of new Ken Whiteley Christmas originals that range from the exciting ska sounds of “The BabyLeapt In The Womb” to the heart-tugging “I Can’t Imagine Christmas Without You”. It is a vocal rich recording that in addition to Ken’s soul stirring performances includes singers David Wall, The Levy Sisters(Amoy & Ciceal), Hayley Gene Penner and Ken’s niece Jenny Whiteley. In fact the album is brimming with Whiteley family including brother Chris, son Ben, nephews Dan and Jesse and a cover painting by Ken’s father, Ronald Whiteley. Canadian concerts… Ken returns to The Duck in St. Catharines for his annual Saturday blues afternoon with the Mighty Duck Blues Band on November 29.

African Nova Scotia Gospel matinee……

Gospel concerts… Ken Whiteley’s popular Sunday afternoon gospel music series at Hugh’s Room will celebrate it’s 12th seasonwith an amazing selection of both local and international gospel artists. This season kicks off on Sunday, October 26th with a special Nova Scotia Gospel Celebration, featuring Linda Carvery, soloist with the Nova Scotia Mass Choir and fellow Nova Scotians Jeremiah Sparks (“Mufasa” from the Toronto production of The Lion King and former church organist and choir director of the Nova Scotia Mass Choir) and Jivaro Smith(“Simba” from The Lion King and pastor and director of the mass choir at Grant African Methodist Episcopal Church in Toronto) with Ben Whiteley holding down the bottom end with his big double bass. Washington & Voorheesville concerts…..

USA concerts… THIS WEEKEND! Ken travels stateside to join Kim and Reggie Harris for concerts on Friday, October 17 back at Carroll Cafe in Washington, DC. and Saturday, October 18 at Old Songs in Voorheesville, NY.

Canadian concerts… Sadly the 1st gospel brunch at the 4 Points Sheraton in Thorold has been cancelled. However, there’s still lots of great music happening at the 13th Annual Canal Bank Shuffle Blues Festival on October 17 & 18.
