Veggie Food Festival, Prairie Day & Southside Shuffle…

SEPTEMBER CONCERT NEWS… This weekend Ken will be performing at the Toronto Vegetarian Food Festival (Sept. 7) with his son Ben Whiteley, 5th annual Prairie Day at Alderville Black Oak Savanna Ecology Centre (Sept. 8) and the Southside Shuffle Port Credit Blues & Jazz Festival (Sept. 9) with The Levy Sisters and bassist George Koller. Ken returns to Le Zaricot (Sept. 14), his favourite club outside Montreal followed by a sold-out house concert at Penny & David’s in Morin Heights (Sept. 15). Rounding out the month are shows in Woodbridge (Yoga As It Is, Sept. 23) and the Muskokas (Muskoka Place Gallery, Sept. 29). Go to Shows for more details. STUDIO NEWS… Nextweek, The Levy Sisters, David Wall, Bucky Berger, Ben Whiteley, Ken & his engineer Nik begin work on a brand new recording… but I’ve said too much already… stay tuned for the official announcement. Last month Ken & Nik recorded some additional harmony vocals with Amoy Levy and Ciceal Levy for Kim and Reggie Harris‘ new CD, entitled “Resurrection Day”. This project was initally delayd due to flooding and damages caused by hurricanesIrene and Lee at Kim and Reggie’s home in New York last Spring. Old Songs Festival & Kim and Reggie Harris…

STUDIO NEWS… This week the recording sessions for Kim and Reggie Harris resumes. They recorded some of the tracks at Casa Wroxton studio with Ken & his engineer Nik Tjelios in February as well as down in New York in April. Local 1000 Retreat…

LOCAL 1000 NEWS… This week (May 14th to 17th) is the 2nd annual Local 1000 Retreat at the beautiful Highlander Research & Education Centre in Tennessee. Workshops,singings, breakout sessions, and special events for all Canadian and American members of Local 1000, The Traveling Musicians’ Union, (AFM). See what fun we had last year.
