Tonight in Middleburgh…

TONIGHT! The incomparable Sonny Ochs is presenting my solo concert at the Middleburgh Public Library on the Main St. of Middleburgh, N.Y. For my Toronto friends, I’m doing a bluesy gig with bassist Alastair Whitehead on Wed., Oct. 21st at the Jazz Bistro. It’s part of the Toronto Blues Society’s Hump Day Blues Series.

On Oct. 5th I was honoured to be asked to stand on the stage with a bunch of my fellow musicians, actors and writers while Tom Mulcair announced the NDP’s robust “Support for the Arts” platform which includes (among other things) restoring lost CBC funding, support for Telefilm, the NFB and income averaging for artists, which would be great for those welcome years when you happen to make more money than usual. My only disappointment was that with this announcement, in this room full of artists, the press did not ask a single question about the new arts platform. Unknowingly I created a bit of a stir on BuzzFeed. Here’s me in my now, somewhat famous outfit, proudly wearing my Jennifer Hollett NDP button.

Ken Whiteley and the Beulah Bandare delighed to have been chosen for an official showcase at the Folk Music Ontario conference on Friday, Oct. 16 at 9:30pm in Plaza B. Then we’ll be travelling to the Octave Theatre in Kingston on Nov. 7 and to the NERFA conference in Kerhonskon, NY on Nov. 12-15. Looking ahead to 2016, we’re heading out to Alberta for shows in Calgary on March 4 and Edmonton on March 5. We’d love to find a few more places to perform while we’re out there so if you’re interested contact AIM Artists in Motion Booking Agency or email shari (at) kenwhiteley (dot) com to discuss.

My 13th annual Toronto Sunday Gospel matinee concert series kicks off on October 25th. I’m thrilled to announce Two-Time Grammy® Award Winners, Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer and Saskatoon powerhouse folk collective, Rosie and the Riveters will be the featured guests. Contact Hugh’s Room to make reservations and purchase tickets.

Check out some brand new music from my latest recording with The Beulah Band on my soundcloud channel and two of the music videos below. Also, I hope you enjoy “Old Wind Blow” from an earlier concert performance.
