Local 1000 Gathering…

Local 1000 Gathering: Ken joins his Union Sisters & Brothersat the Local 1000 Gathering, May 2-4 at The Ashokan Center. The theme this year is “Mentoring” with Linda Tillery, Hannah Shira Naiman and Ken sharing their insights and skills to inspire us all.

ON TOUR: Ken Whiteley and The Beulah Band will be at the Waterford Old Town Hall on June 18. We’ll also be heading out to the following summer festivals including Mariposa Folk Festival, Home County Music and Art Festival, Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival, Summerfolk Music Festival and Weaving Words Festival. ON TOUR: Ken and The Beulah Band kick off the 3rd annual House of Harmony concert series in Fingal on Saturday, April 9. We hope to see some of our friends from the London Home County Folk Festival in Fingal. The Ken Whiteley Trio performs at the Thamesview United Church in Fullarton on Saturday, April 16 to raise funds for the church’s Community Access project. Go to the Shows tab for more info.

CD RELEASE CONCERT: TONIGHT! I’m celebrating the release of my newest recording “Freedom Blues”, with an allstar band on Friday, April 1 at Hugh’s Room in Toronto. Joining me will be the glorious vocal harmonies of the Fabulous Levy Sisters, a 3 piece horn section that includes Shuffle Demon saxophonists Richard Underhill and Perry White with trumpeter Ewan Divitt, Denis Keldie wailing on the organ, all anchored by the heartbeat rhythm of Alastair Whitehead on bass and Bucky Berger on drums. I will be playing at least 4 of my guitars that night including my Grit Laskin 6 & 12 strings, my vintage National resophonic and my original “Mr. Whale” electric dobro that I purchased new in 1966. I hope you can join us. ~ Ken
